Mrs. Stella Elizabeth Stanley Craig, 89, of Hamburg, who was born November 14, 1914, in Ashley County, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at her daughters' residence in the Milo community outside of Hamburg. A lifelong resident of Hamburg and Ashley County, she was a homemaker and owned and operated the Pine Hill Grocery for many years. She was a member of the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church and loved fishing and gardening.


She is survived by a daughter, Sybil Jenkins and husband Dennie of Hamburg; a son, Larry Craig of Panama City, FL; two brothers, J. B. and Eugene Stanley, both of Hamburg; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Craig, in 1971; one son, Bobby Craig, in 2003; her parents, Shelton and Anna Knight Stanley; two sisters, Elsie Craig and Ruby Culp and a brother, Willard Stanley.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Friday, February 20, in the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Sam Smith and Dale Crumby officiating. Burial followed services at the Egypt Cemetery under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Mark, Randy, Chad and Chase Craig and Jeff and Greg Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, 805 Ashley 95 Road, Hamburg, AR 71646.
