Kathryn Ann "Kathy" Nester Snider, age 62, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014.
She was born on Feb. 14, 1952, in Hondo to Otis and Imogene Schawe Nester, both of whom preceded her in death.
Kathy will be missed by all and remembered for her strength, faith in God, her intelligence, her sense of humor, and Christian example.
A 1970 graduate of Hondo High School, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&I Kingsville and a Masters degree from the University of Texas San Antonio. She took great pride in her teaching career, which included reading, Special Education and social studies. She was part of a large and loving family at Tafolla Middle School. She retired in 2011 from SAISD after 33 years in education. She had also taught at Medina Valley ISD.
Kathy loved her extended family of teacher friends, church associates and good neighbors. She loved history, traveling, and her pets. In addition, Kathy belonged to several professional organizations and Northwest Community Bible Church.
Survivors include her sister, Patsy Nester of Mesquite; sister, Ellen Nester Reinhart; niece, Shelley Reinhard; and nephew, Steven Reinhard, all of San Antonio.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 7, from 9 to 10 a.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel in Hondo.
Kathy's astonishing spirit, unbelievable hope and endless talents will be celebrated at a memorial service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, with Deacon John Schoellman officiating.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
