On Thursday, November 3rd, 2011, one of God's special angels was called to come be with him when our most loved David Perdue passed away at the Raleigh General Hospital.

Known affectionately as "Dukie" all his life, David Lewin Perdue II was the fourth of five children. He was the beloved and only son of David Lewin Perdue and Freda Ann Bailey Perdue, both of MacArthur. Born on July 5, 1977, at Beckley, he was 34 years of age. David was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Everett Perdue, and his maternal grandparents, Truman and Rosie Rakes Bailey.

David spent his childhood in the Beckley area. He was a great fan of country music, especially Ray Stevens. The world sometimes is blessed with special people and our David was one of them. They come here to teach us in their own special way what love, humility and patience is all about. David was one of those "Angels Unaware" in our midst. And then there comes a time…. God sends for this gift from Heaven, with this child sent from above comes stronger faith and richer love…

In addition to his parents those left to cherish his memory are his loving sisters, Eve Taylor of Brunswick, Ga., Tabitha Greenbrown of Arizona, Rosie Stowers and her husband, Greg, of Beckley and Amanda Acord and her husband Jr. of Lester; he was the fond grandson of his paternal grandmother, Helen Perdue of Crab Orchard; David was blessed to have his faithful caregiver, Mark Richmond, in his life. Mark was like a brother to David. A large extended family survives of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

On Sunday, November 6th, 2011, at 2 p.m. we will remember the life of David Hicks with a "Service Of Remembrance" at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Okey Slate will be officiating. David will then be laid to rest in the Jennings-Stowers Cemetery at Odd. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of the service.

Thank you, God, for our David.

Condolences may be sent to the family's guestbook at www.meltonmortuary.com.
