Evelyn, 79, Ft. Loramie, died at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

She was the daughter of Anthony and Alvina (Klosterman) Hemmelgarn. On Jun 4, 1966, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Cranberry, she married Karl F. Ahrns, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are five children: James Ahrns, Chillicothe, Gary Ahrns, New Bremen, Leesa (fiancé Zack Graymire) Brown and Lynn Ahrns, both Ft. Loramie, and Emerson "Keith" Ahrns, Marysville; four step-siblings: Dorothy Brussell, Minster, Carol (Jim) Huelsmeyer, Anna, Jerry (Pat) Watercutter, Cranberry, Linda (Chalmer) Gasson, Fort Loramie; two brothers-in-law: Bernard Ahrns, Pemberton, and Julius (Mary) Alice Ahrns, Maria Stein; a sister-in-law, Kathleen (Arthur) Fisher, Fryburg; and sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Deceased are and infant sister, Mary; a brother-in-law, William Brussell; and stepmother, Mathida (Albers) Hemmelgarn.

A homemaker, she was a 1953 graduate of St. Henry High School. She had also been co-owner and operator of the former E&K Fruit Market, south of Fort Loramie. After retiring, she worked part-time at McDonalds, Minster. Many years ago, she was a proofreader at the Celina Mutual Insurance Co. She attended St. Michael Catholic Church and was a member of St. Ann's Ladies Sodality. She loved animals, especially hummingbirds, her cats and two grand-dogs. She also enjoyed flower gardening and was an avid Reds fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Michael Church, Fort Loramie, with the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating.
