He was a border patrol agent for the past 7 years with the canine division and enjoyed his time with his border patrol partner, Goldie. He served his country as a member of the U. S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and boy. He liked to go fishing and was an avid runner.

He was the son of Javier Sr. and Marie H. Vega. He is survived by his wife, Paola Andrea Brown; sons: Javier Vega, III, Jiovanni Vega and Jarod Vega; brother: Jordy (Natalie) Vega; niece: Jordynn Vega and his K-9: Goldie.

Pallbearers were Jordy Vega, Javier "Trey" Vega III, Alberto Herrera, Modesto Morales, Remberto Arteaga and Jacob Borias.

Visitation was held Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 1 - 9 PM with a rosary at 7 PM in Heavenly Grace Chapel. Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 10 AM in St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church in La Feria. Burial followed in Heavenly Grace Memorial Park with Full Military Honors and Border Patrol Honors.
