Jonathan "Peter Gunn" Bentaz Garner I, 55, Indianapolis, departed this life on August 3, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services 11:00am, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church 123 Helen Street with the eulogy given by Rev. Kendell Washington, burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation 9:00am Saturday at the church until the time of service.

Jonathan was born May 28, 1959 to Roberta (Simmons) Wooten and John Garner in Michigan City, Indiana.

He graduated from Elston Senior High School on May 31, 1979 and he later received an Associates of Applied Science on May 11, 2013 from Ivy Tech. Jonathan worked for Chrysler Corporation for thirteen years and he also worked at Westville Correction for ten years. Jonathan loved travelling and being with his grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories, five children Terrell Garner, Michigan City, Indiana, Cory Garner, Atlanta, Georgia, Eric Garner, Indianapolis, Indiana, Erika Garner, Michigan City, Indiana and Jonathan Garner II, Atlanta, Georgia; father John (Sarah) Garner, Michigan City, Indiana; special mother Edith Woodard, Indianapolis; siblings Loray (Michael) Wade, Michigan City, Indiana, Sandra (Kevin) Bible, Pomona, California, Gloria (George) Roberts, Indianapolis, Indiana, Cecil Wooten, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Penny Gipson, Portage, Indiana, Briggitt Coppage, Daphne Coppage, Damieon Coppage Sr., and Monique Coppage all of Michigan City, Indiana; ten grandchildren Micah A. Dorsey, Masen Garner, Eric Garner Jr., Aja Garner, Jaylin Garner, Dareon Garner, Mariah Garner, Jordan Garner, Terrell Garner Jr., and Darian Garner; special cousin Carlton Shannon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Roberta (Simmons) Wooten; special father Thomas Woodard Sr.; maternal grandmother Katherine Simmons; paternal grandmother Lucille Garner; brothers Edward Wooten and Thomas Woodard Jr., and aunt Phyllis Simmons.
