Anchorage resident Jean M. Wise, 65, died March 14, 1996, at home.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Witzleben's Bragaw Chapel with the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be James Ridder, William Bancroft, Howard Cleveland, William Miller, Bernie Freeman and Frank Tadda. A gathering of family and friends will follow the Mass. At 1 p.m., there will be departure from the church to Fort Richardson National Cemetery, where a burial service with full military honors will be held.
Mrs. Wise was born May 16, 1930, in Elyria, Ohio, and graduated from high school in 1948. She attended St. John College of Cleveland and graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing in 1952.
She worked at Elyria Memorial Hospital and the University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, before serving in the U.S. Air Force from January 1956 until September 1957.
Mrs. Wise moved to Anchorage in 1972.
She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and past president of Martha's Guild. She worked at Hope Park Cottage in 1975 and enjoyed bowling, sewing, reading, crafts and swimming.
Her family said: ''Our mother was a loving and compassionate woman who was always ready to offer a smile, give a hug, lend an ear and provide encouragement. The sparkle in her eyes expressed more than words could say. We are proud she and our dad raised us to be responsible individuals and to know the value of family and love. Her vibrant spirit will live on in us.''
Mrs. Wise is survived by her husband of 39 years, James of Anchorage; daughters and sons-in-law, Victoria Wise and Timothy Lamb of Seattle, Gretchen and Bob Quinton, Jacqueline Wise, and Maureen and Ray Brenner, all of Anchorage; son, Matthew Wise of Kirkland, Wash.; brothers, Edward Robinson of Charlotte, N.C., and John Robinson of Louisville, Ky.; and sister, Sister Ann Robinson, Sisters of Notre Dame, of Rome.
