He was married at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church in Gallipolis on December 4, 1943 to Helen Patricia, daughter of Kenneth Grover and Doris (Jones) Wheeler.
During the Second World War, Dan served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. He entered service August 29, 1941, at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and served in England, France and Germany. he was serving at Fort Campbell Kentucky when he lost his life in a motor pool accident.
He was survived by his widow and a baby daughter.
