Mr. Del Ray Saverance, 50, of North Augusta, passed away, July 2, 2007 after an extended illness. Born in Cheraw on August 1, 1956, he was a son of the late J. Ray and Katye Sims Saverance and the grandson of the late Sarah Beasley Saverance. He was educated in the South Carolina public school system and at Horry - Georgetown Technical College. He spent his entire professional career in the automobile business as a parts and/or service manager at franchise dealerships. The last 16 years of his career were as Fixed Operations Manager at Taylor Toyota in North Augusta. Mr. Saverance was a member and a former deacon at Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church. His passion was Clemson Tiger Football. He attended Tiger Football games from the time his dad took him as a two year old until his illness kept him from going to the games after the 2005 season. He is survived by his wife,son,a daughter,three grandchildren, his step-mother, grandfather, grandmother, four brothers, two sisters. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 6, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rowland Funeral Home with Rev. Hal Norton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service. It was Del's request that casual attire be worn to his service. No ties or jackets, please. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the American Liver Foundation, 75 Maiden Lane, Suite 603, New York, N.Y. 10038, the Aiken SPCA, 401 Wire Road, Aiken, S.C., or to the Merriwether Volunteer Fire Department, 1879 W. Martintown Road, North Augusta, S.C. 29860.
