Marguerite C. Nelson, 91, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.
Private graveside services where held on Monday, Oct. 17, at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Church of Peace, United Church of Christ, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.
Marguerite was born on April 26, 1920, in Rock Island, a daughter of Chester L. Cralle and Bertha Bertelsen Cralle. She married Robert S. Nelson on April 26, 1941, in Rock Island; he preceded his wife in death on Sept. 8, 1994.
Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker. Earlier she had worked as a seamstress. Earlier she had worked as a seamstress. Her memberships included Church of Peace, United Church of Christ, Rock Island, Agnes Hirst Circle of the King's Daughters, the Rock Island Fine Arts Club and the Friends of the Rock Island Library.
Survivors include her sons, Richard (Bonnie) Nelson, Rock Island, Robert (Lynne) Nelson Jr., Towanda, Ill.; grandchildren, Bradley (Stephanie) Nelson, Centennial, Colo., Daniel Nelson, Aurora, Signe (Sterling) Nelson-Combs, East Moline, and Whitney (Michael) Nadeau, Moline; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert Nelson Sr.
