MRS. I. E. LOCKWOOD, OLD LACLEDE RESIDENTS, DIED (16 Apr 1937) Funeral services Conducted Tuesday At New Hope Church for Veteran Correspondent
Mrs. I. E. Lockwood, prominent resident of the county and for many years Hazle Dell correspondent for the Lebanon Rustic-Republican, died Monday at her home. She lacked twelve days of being 62 years old.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the New Hope Church, the Rev. R. B. Carnett, assisted by the pastor, Rev. R. D. Patterson officiating. The Rev. Mr. Carnett had been pastor of the church for many years and he is a close friend of the Lockwood family. Music was provided by the Rev. Mr. Patterson, Mrs. C. B. Thomas, G. W McCulloch, Ashford Hough and Miss Lois
Watkins, accompanied by Mrs. Will Windsor. Pall bearers were three sons-in-law, two grandson and one nephew.
Among those attending the funeral were F. M. Lockwood and son Bert of Ponca City, Okla.; Mrs. Ellen Lockwood of Nevada, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sphar of near Springfield.
Emma Lucretia Barker, daughter of the late Dr. J. C. and Nancy Ellen Barker, was born April 24, 1875 in Laclede county. She was married to I. E. Lockwood on Feb. 17, 1894. To this union were born four daughters who with the husband survive. The daughters are Mrs. C. W. King, Mrs. Sam Martin, Mrs. Ray Bradshaw and Mrs. Walter O'Quinn, all of Laclede county. She also is survived by one sister, Mrs. Harve Gourley of Lebanon, and six grandchildren.
