Nova Canaday

Nova Burnsed Canaday, 76, Macclenny, died October 13 in Humana Hospital of Orange Park following a long illness. Mrs. Canaday was a native of Charlton County and the daughter of the late Jasper and Kansas Rhoden Burnsed. She was the widow of the late Harley Rhoden and the late Gus Hotridge Canaday and had lived in the Baxter area of Baker County before moving to Macclenny in 1967. She had been employed with the Baker county School Board as a custodian at the School Superintendent's building for numerous years until her retirement in 1981 due to ill health. Mrs. Canaday was a member of the Moniac Missionary Baptist Church in Charlton County.

Survivors include five daughter, Lucille Prescott and Reatha Mae Burnsed, both of Baxter, Shirley Davis of Sanderson, Jackie Harvey of Panama City and Donnell Monson of Macclenny; three sons, Seaf Rhoden, J.N. Canaday and Tony H. Canaday, all of Baxter; on brother, Harley Burnsed of St. George, GA.; one sister, Nellie Bennett of Millwood, Ga.; 39 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held October 16 at 4:00 pm in the Moniac Missionary Baptist Church, Moniac, Ga.; with Rev. Artis Crews, pastor, officiating. Rev. Gene Burnsed, pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Baldwin assisted.

Interment was in North Prong Cemetery, Baker County.

Active pallbearers were Riley Rhoden, Kevin Burnsed, Melvin Rewis, George Prescott, Ricky Davis And David Rhoden.

Brinkley-Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, was in charge of arrangements.
