Robert P. Lord Sr., 82, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.

The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St. in Barre, is in charge of arrangements.

Parents - Bernal E. and Alice (Cameron) Lord.

Graduated from Spaulding High School,1951 & Burdette College (Boston Ma)IN 1953 with a degree in business administration.

1st employed by United States government in the Soil Conservation Service. Served in the United States Army as an instructor at Fort Benning in Georgia, in Sound Ranging School (1953-1955).

Married Shirley Ann Bowen in Randolph on June 9, 1956 .

He became a partner with his father and brother from 1956 to 1964 in the B.E. Lord and Sons business in East Barre, doing commercial and residential excavation work and asphalt paving. After that he Bob joined Kelley Construction Inc. starting as a laborer and working his way up to management, including sales, estimating, expediting and supervision.

In 1970, Bob founded E.F. Wall & Associates Inc. with two partners and later served as President. After his retirement he passed the business on to his sons

He served and was very active with many local & community boards and in recognition of his many contributions in support of Vermont's economic growth and vitality, Bob was named Vermont's Small Business Person of the Year in 1986.
In 2003 he received the Richard A. Snelling Economic Development Award. 1991 Barre Service Club honoree.

Survived by his children; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband; and a sister-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife; his daughter, Robin Lynn Lord, and his brother, Richard Lord.

Interment- Wilson Cemetery in Websterville.
