Bob's profession was banking, and the majority of that work was done in Prestonsburg at the Bank Josephine and then in Lebanon, Kentucky at Marion National Bank. He was also very active in the local Rotary Club in Lebanon as well as the Chamber of Commerce and the Marion County Industrial Authority. In addition, he was a key member of the core group that took the Marion County Country Ham Days from its infancy to what it is today. Bob lived the last 25 years of his life in Stuart, Florida. In his Florida years, he was a banker for a while and then a controller for a few companies before he finally decided to retire completely. Bob was also known for his service to the church. He served many roles in his church and was particularly known for his service to North Stuart Baptist Church in Florida as church treasurer for a number of years. Bob also greatly enjoyed being a member of the choir of all of the churches of which he was and had been a member. During retirement, Bob reacquainted himself with his golf game, enjoyed a lot of flower gardening, and enjoyed learning about his ancestors and about his extended family, which is not a small group of people.
After a brief illness, Bob passed into the beautiful realm of life on August 1, 2014 at the age of 80. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Hall Funeral Home in Martin, Kentucky with burial service following at Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel, Kentucky.
