Born on June 27, 1938 in Kingsport, she was the daughter of the late Elijah Sharpe and Laura Stewart Sharpe.
She retired from Holston Valley Medical Center. She was a born again Christian and had a great compassion for children and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dixon; son, Mark Dixon; father, Elijah Sharpe; mother, Laura Sharpe; brothers, Elijah Sharpe, Jr., Pascal Sharpe and Samuel Sharpe; and sister, Marie Rector.
She is survived by her sister, Irene Booth and husband, A.C.; brother, Clyde Sharpe and wife, Maria; several nieces and nephews; special nieces, Cathy Conklin, Jackie Mendenhall, Laura Sharpe and Brenda Herman; and special nephews, Dwight Conklin, Robert Sharpe, Bill Hutson and Lawrence Herman.
The family would like to say thank you to all her special friends for being a part of her life and also thank you to Wellmont Hospital for the excellent care she received.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday evening, August 4, 2014 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Brother Dave Hutson officiating and music provided by Kelly Jennings and Josh Mendenhall.
