SOUTH BEND – Gil B. King, Jr., 54, residing in South Bend, IN passed away at 9:00 P.M. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Hospice House, South Bend. He was employed with Elkhart Rehab. Gil was born on July 25, 1960 in Livingston, TX to Gilbert B. King, Sr. and Geraldine (Grimes) King. He moved from Denver, CO in 1983 to South Bend.
On October 6, 1984 in Mishawaka, IN Gil married Cindy (Keip) King. Along with his loving wife, Cindy, he is survived by his two daughters, Amanda (Loren) Gadacz of Mishawaka and Erica King of South Bend; one granddaughter, Raegan Q. LaCluyse of South Bend; his parents, Gilbert, Sr. and Geraldine King of Colorado; and his two sisters, Dina (Steve) Hollingsworth of Littleton, CO and Karla Escobar of Oklahoma City, OK.
Gil was a champion of the outdoors who greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a NRA Shooting Instructor and loved to race Rotax go carts. He was a man's man. Gil loved to help others. He was an outstanding father, husband, grandfather, son and friend.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, IN 46615. Dr. Joseph Baunoch will officiate.
