John Lesser, city pioneer, of 124 SW 22, died early Wednesday morning of a heart attack in Booneville, Ark.
The 67-year-old conductor on the Rock Island railroad, had moved to the city with his parents during the run of 1889 and was a Shriner and 32nd degree Mason. A member of the ORC, he had worked for the railroad 47 years. He belonged to the Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Lesser; four sisters: Mrs. Mary Pulliam, 2313 NW 10; Mrs. Lloyd Inman, 3025 NW 19; Mrs. Pearl Barnes, 541 SW 29; Mrs. Sam Rice, 1614 NW 10; two brothers: George Lesser, 101 SW 27; and Frank Lesser, with the navy in San Diego, Calif.
Arrangements are pending at the Capitol Hill funeral home.
