KEARNEY — Evelyn "Juanita" Livingston, 91, of Kearney died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Mother Hull Home.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Dick Turner officiating. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Feb. 4, 1923, to Frank and Clara (Goldstein) Lambert.

On Oct. 18, 1942, she married Leslie E. Livingston in Lincoln. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Vicki and John Richman, Les and Kathy and John and Mary, all of Kearney; grandson, John Richman and Keisha Meeter of Lake Quivira, Kan.; grandchildren and spouses, Michael and Kim Richman of Lexington, James Kurt and Kelly Richman of Katy, Texas, Heather and Michael Daubert of Omaha, Gretchen and John Dolson of Lincoln, Tracia and Tyler Clark of Puyallup, Wash., and Michael Livingston of Kearney; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Russ Lambert and his wife, Linda, of San Antonio; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Lambert of Lincoln.

She was the second of eight children in her family. Juanita graduated from Lincoln High School and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 1967, she received her licensed practical nurse degree from the Kearney School of Practical Nursing.

Together, she and Leslie had four children, Vicki, Leslie F., John and James Dale. With Les's coaching, they moved from Lincoln to Gothenburg, to Alliance, and back to Lincoln before finally settling in Kearney in 1956 when Les became a member of the Kearney State athletic department. While in Kearney, Juanita worked for the Nebraska State Hospital for Tuberculosis, the Kearney Eye Institute and Good Samaritan Hospital.

Juanita was a 60-plus-year member of First United Methodist Church in Kearney. At the church's ground-breaking ceremony in 1970, Juanita vowed that where her shovel dug, that would be where she would sit each Sunday. It was that fourth row, left side, where her granddaughters grew up finding her and Les every Sunday after the 8:30 a.m. service. Juanita also was a 50-plus-year member of Chapter EG, PEO.

While Juanita spent much of her life nursing others, family was Juanita's top priority. When her parents' health deteriorated, she spent more time in Lincoln as she cared for their needs. During that time she also began working Husker game days with her sisters at the Big Red Shop.

In her free time, Juanita enjoyed her roses and geraniums, shopping, picking out a new daveno, and accompanying Les on their travels to grandchildren's activities and Les' World War II reunions. Following Les' death, Juanita moved to Northridge Retirement Community where she lived until a few months before her death.

When asked, her grandchildren say they will miss opening up matching Husker attire on Christmas morning, looking at the living room from the kitchen, her pancakes after Sunday school and racing down the basement stairs while she looked on. Her great-grandchildren will miss their visits, which always concluded with a ride on her walker and a wave from the door.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, James Dale; parents, Frank and Clara Lambert; and six siblings and their spouses.
