Karen Cooper Porter, 72, of Millboro died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Hinton, West Virginia on February 22, 1942, a daughter of the late Harry Raymond Cooper and Eloise Ratliff Cooper. She was a homemaker throughout her life and sold insurance. Karen was active in weight watchers and enjoyed the Millboro busy bees. She was an Atlanta Braves fan. She is survived by her husband Thomas Lee "Tom" Porter, Sr. of Millboro; a son Thomas Lee "Tommy" Porter, Jr. of Millboro; 2 sisters, Marsha Davis and her husband Benny and Penny Wills and her husband Charles all of Hinton, West Virginia; a brother-in-law, James Cashwell of St. Augustine, Florida; 2 grandchildren, Thomas Lee Porter, III and Amber Elizabeth Porter; and a number of nieces and nephews . She was preceded in death by a sister Judy Cashwell. A graveside funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 :00 A.M. from the Windy Cove Cemetery in Millboro Springs with the Rev. John Haney officiating. Interment will follow. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, however, friends may call anytime at the residence. The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Millboro Fire Department, Millboro, Virginia 24460. Arrangements are being handled by Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge.
