"GRANT ALLEE KILLED IN GREENCASTLE
Grant Allee, 75 years old, former resident of Brazil and Harmony and a widely known retired lumberman, was fatally burned in a fire which destroyed his house-trailer home on R.R.4, Greencastle, about 5 p.m. Monday.

For the past five years, Mr. Allee had resided west of Greencastle on the farm of a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Adamson. Members of the family were attracted by the flames Monday evening and called the Greencastle fire department and the Putnam County rescue squad, but the intense blaze made rescue impossible. When the fire was extinguished, the charred remains were removed from the devastated structure.

Mr. Allee was a son of the late Seldon and Etta (Reese) Allee and was born on Oct. 4, 1892, at Stilesville. He spent his early years there and at Coatesville until 1912, when he went to Texas. After five years, he returned to Indiana and resided in Brazil until 1947. He later lived at Harmony until moving to Putnam County following the death of his wife, the former Miss Edith Archer, who preceded him on Oct. 25, 1962.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed for several years by the Adamson Sawmill at Harmony.

Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Fred (Louise) Landgon of R.R.2, Reelsville; and Mrs. George (Marie) Adamson of R.R.4, Greencastle; two sons: Grant Allee Jr., of Brazil and William Allee of Sheboygan, Wis.; a sister, Mrs. Nellie White, of Plainfield; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded by an infant son, Enva E. Allee, on March 5, 1936.

Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in Calcutta Cemetery at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Theodore Roberts, pastor of the Harmony Methodist Church. There will be no visitation and the casket will remain closed. Service arrangements are in charge of the Lawson Funeral Home."
