Minnie was the daughter of Patrick Cornelia and Mary Ann Cochran.
Patrick Cornelia and Mary Ann (Cochran) Tweedy were married November 18, 1860 in Charles City. Her father died in 1871.

Minnie Augusta (Cornelie) Oakes – 1867 – April 19, 1945
MRS. OAKES, 77, SUCCUMBS
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie A. Cornelie Oakes, 77, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. B. Gonser early Thursday morning following a lingering illness, will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock. The Rev. C. Burnett Whitehead will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock.
Mrs. Oakes was born in 1867 in Marseilles, Illinois, and was married to Earl Oakes in 1888. The couple lived on a farm near Marble Rock for several years, later moving to a farm southeast of Mason City. And then retired and took up residence in Mason City, for 10 years, later moving to Clear Lake. They moved back to Mason City in 1943, shortly before Mr. Oakes death.
A member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Mrs. Oakes is survived by one son, Leon of LeGrand. Two daughters Mrs. F. B. Gonser, Mason Cityand Mrs. George C Bannett of Hayward, California also survive. She is also survived by one niece, Mrs. Shelby Ruggles, Mason City. Her husband and son preceded her in death.
The McAuley and Son funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
