Moss Bluff- Marie Reeves Gill, 79, passed away quietly into the arms of Jesus, Friday, August 1, 2014 in a local hospital surrounded by most of her family.

She was born September 29, 1934 in Topsy, LA and known to her family as "Maw Maw Ree". In her younger years she was fiesty and didn't put up with any nonsense. In her older years she mellowed out quite a bit, often saying it was because of her grandchildren. Maw Maw was the Monarch of her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a very active member of the Moss Bluff community for over 50 years. She walked many a steps between the baseball fields cheering on her 5 children and later her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to go see some of her grandchildren at the rodeo, she would yell "Bring it home Babe". She loved to travel, shop, and watch Wheel of Fortune, baseball, football, and wrestling on TV. Her favorite teams were the Astros, LSU, and the Saints. She retired from The Lake Charles American Press after 22 years of service. She later worked for FUNdiMENTALS Daycare and J.A.M. Learning Center where she was a honorary Maw Maw to many especially the Ross children of Ragley. She loved to cook and bake; she made the best lemon, sweet potato, and coconut pies, pineapple cake, porkie-pine balls and meatballs with gravy. She was a life member of the VFW Post 9933 Ladies Auxiliary of Moss Bluff.
She loved to attend church at Living Way Pentecostal Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Glenda (Danny) Moore of Chauvin, LA; two sons, Jimmy (Mary) Gill and Russell (companion, Tammy) Gill both of Moss Bluff; one daughter-in-law, Connie Gill of Topsy; eleven grandchildren, Melissa Pousson , Jennifer Callais, Julie Thibodeaux, Jessica Otis, Sabrina Gill, Renee Bailey, Alexis Sanders, Heather Bertrand, Jeremy Gill, Ben Parton and Dylan Gill; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way; one sister, Joyce Cleary of Lake Charles; four brothers, Cliffton Reeves of Topsy, Charles "Pete" (Marion) Reeves of Moss Bluff, Wayne (Betty) Reeves of Topsy, and Mervin (Peggy) Reeves of Topsy; two sister-in-laws, Jean Reeves of Ragley and Shirley Reeves Thames of Lake Charles; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cylde "Pete" Gill; parents, Howard "Moot" and Ruth Reeves; two sons, Danny and Lyn Gill; one brother, Ovie Reeves; one sister-in-law, Emma Lee Reeves; and one great-grandchild, Daniel Powell.

Her Homegoing will be at 11:00am Tuesday, August 5, at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Rev. Danny Moore and Rev. Glenn Massey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00pm with a life celebration at 7:00pm Monday, August 4 and will resume Tuesday 8:00am until service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Old Ritchie Cemetery of Moss Bluff. The family would like to thank her great grandson Kegan Pousson for taking such good care of her during her time of need.
