James Burgett, 54, of Pascola, Mo., died Tuesday, April 11, 2000 at the V.A. Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born April 20, 1945 in Steele, Mo., he was the son of late Walter Howard and Regina Turnage Burgett. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, James Adam Burgett, Walter Travis Burgett and Aaron Walter Burgett; one step-son, Mike Floyd; and one sister, Dimple Marie Goodwin.
He was a veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal by distinquishing himself by meritorious service as a Requirements and Requisition Clerk, Equipment Management Branch, 483rd Supply Squadron, Republic of Vietnam, from November 4, 1969 to October 10, 1970.
He was a member of the Baptist Church in Pascola and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
James was united in marriage to Bonnie Foster on January 21, 1997 at Pascola.
Mr. Burgett leaves his wife, Bonnie Burgett of Pascola; One step-daughter, June Smith, of Bragg City, Mo.; and Three sisters: Shirley Shull and her husband Sidney of Pascola, Henrietta Skaggs and her husband George of Farmington, Mo., and Maudie Gipson of St. Louis, Mo.; and Several grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Burgett were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 13, 2000 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti, Mo., with Rev. Dave Lewelling officiating. John W German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge.
Pallbearers were John Taylor, Buck Prince, Sidney Shull, Garnett Foster, James Fields and Travis Caraway.
