Mrs. Query was born in Wingate, NC on January 7, 1923, the daughter of Palmer and Lydia Meigs Austin. She graduated from Wingate High School and with her husband co-founded Cessco Inc., an aerosol manufacturing company.
First and foremost she was a devoted wife and mother. She was married to her husband for sixty-five years and they maintained their home together until her death. She was a member of Matthews Methodist Church for over fifty years and attended Folly Beach United Methodist Church after she moved to Folly Beach in 2002. At Matthews Methodist she was leader of her Women's Circle, taught both adult and children's Sunday School classes and sang in the choir. She was active in the family's businesses as the financial manager and also managed the finances of the dairy farm that was active until she was in her sixties.
She was an avid rider and then a determined runner but her love for animals was her dominant interest after family and
church. Her articles on wildlife were published in the Charlotte Observer and North Carolina wildlife magazines and she was a supporter of various conservation and animal care groups.
The education of her children was her primary focus as a young mother and she was a powerful and guiding influence for her grandchildren Even through the ravages of Alzheimer's Disease she had a smile and a laugh for those around her.
She was predeceased by a daughter: Jane Query Kessler and is survived by her husband: Grady W. Query; her son: O. Grady Query also of Folly Beach; two grandchildren: Grady Wolfram Query and Kristin Query; a great grandchild: Austin Bishop Query and a sister: Georgia Ried of Ashboro, NC.
