OBITUARY

Walter M. Davis was born in Covington, New York, July 19, 1819, and died at this home in Marble Rock, Iowa, April 10, 1903, in the 84th year of his age.

He left New York at an early age and was one of the early settlers of Michigan; from there he moved to Wisconsin where he married Sarah A. Emily at Baraboo, Wisconsin, February 27, 1834, who is now left a widow to mourn the loss of a faithful and devoted husband. Three children were born of this union, Walter M. Jr., Stephen Henry, and Mrs. Susie E. Rosenkrans, all of whom with their families attended the funeral.

He had been a resident of Iowa for 34 years and at Marble Rock the last 12 years. "He died at a full age as a shock of corn cometh in his season" respected and beloved by all who knew him. The funeral services were held a the family home on Bradford street Sunday at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. J.G. Johnson of the Baptist church, and was attended by a large concourse of sympathizing relatives and friends.
