WG BUD LOWERY

May 22, 1928 - May 21, 2014

Bud came into the world on May 22, 1928. He was the first of four children born to Dewey and Retha Lowery. Bud grew up around the Brooks, Oregon area. He worked on the family farm until joining the Maritime Corps at the age of sixteen. Immediately after WWII he was deployed to Japan. There he helped civilians with the cleanup operations.

After being discharged from the Maritime Corps he went on vacation with his family to Oklahoma. There he met Ruth. She was working at a local "soda shop" when Bud went in for a cold drink. For him it was love at first sight. After a very short courtship they were married and moved to Oregon. They spent sixty seven wonderful years together. Bud and Ruth started their married life as farmers. It wasn't long however, before Bud wanted to change careers. He secured a position at Superior Tire Service in Salem, Oregon. There he remained until his retirement in 1995.

Bud loved to camp and fish. He and Ruth spent countless hours in their boat, trolling for the big one. His favorite fishing spots were Diamond Lake and the Alsea River.

Bud was a member of Keizer Church of Christ, and a member of The Pioneers of Lake Labish. Bud is preceded in death by his parents and young son. He is survived by his wife, daughter, son in law, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed. A special thanks to Evergreen Court Molalla and Gentiva Hospice for all their care and kindness.

Viewing will be at Howell Edwards Doerksen Funeral Home on May 28 from 10am until noon. Memorial service will follow at Keizer Church of Christ at 2pm.
