Dale R Emmert, 91, passed from this life on Friday, August 10, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2012, at Minburn United Methodist Church, Minburn, IA. Burial will be at Brethren Cemetery, Dallas Center, IA. His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, August 12, at Iles Funeral Homes-Brandt Dallas Center Chapel.
Dale was born August 1, 1921 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Ray A. and Bertha Row Emmert. He grew up in Des Moines where he worked a brief time as a carpenter's apprentice. On January 20, 1943, he was united in marriage to Opal McLey. They made their home at their farm in rural Minburn where he lived for 70 years. Dale served on the FMHA board during the 80s farm crisis, Minburn Grain Elevator board, and trustees and administrative boards of Minburn UMC. He was also a member of the Minburn volunteer fire department.
Dale is survived by his three children, Darrell (Nancy) Emmert of Adel, Linda (Bill) Brueck of Pine Island, MN, and Mark Emmert of Minburn; eight grandchildren, Mashell Emmert, Erica (Don) Ritter, Melissa (Aaron) Bickel, Aaron (Nicole) Brueck, Carrie (John) Morris, David Emmert, Stacey Emmert and Jill (Isaiah) Lackland; eight great grandchildren, Alex and Loren Ritter, Jacob Emmert, Ethan and Dylan Lackland, Ryan Brueck, Chandler and Bailey Breuer; one sister, Cora (Gordon) Specht of Santa Barbara, CA; and two sisters-in-law, Lois Young of Des Moines and Karen Main of Camden Point, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Opal; an infant son, Aaron; and a brother, Ralph.
