Earl was a husband and father who dedicated his life to his family with unyielding love and support. He entered the United States Air Force on October 27, 1948 and retired December 31, 1980. He spent the majority of his military career as a military training instructor and manpower resource manager. As a training instructor he took great pride in teaching and coaching young airmen through the rigors of basic training. In his capacity as manpower resource manager, he was instrumental in impacting not only the structure of the Air Force but the lives of all servicemen across the Air Force.
After his military retirement Earl continued his service to the government as a civilian continuing to positively impact the Air Force structure and the lives of Airmen and their families as a manpower and human resources manager. He retired from the federal government on July 31, 1994. After retirement, Earl found fulfillment and joy in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Retirement also brought the time to spend on those hobbies he most enjoyed, his love of fishing and shooting pool. Earl was a die-hard Texas Longhorns, Cowboys and Spurs fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Maxine; brother, John Raft; and sister, Georgia Foran.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne Raft; children, Debbie Huffman and husband Mark, Sharon Raft, and Michael Raft and wife Cristina; grandchildren, Michelle Himel and husband Michael, Lindsay Huffman, and Shawn Raft; and sister, Margaret Ferreira.
