Dick Edward Johnstun, 63, passed away at home February 28, 1996, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born January 10, 1933, son of LaVell and Laura Johnstun, in St. George, Utah. Later he moved to California, then Winnemucca, Nevada, where he spent most of his school years.

In 1950 he moved to Union, Utah, and attended Jordan High School and worked at Kennecott Copper Corp. Dick married Shirleen Bodell on April 12, 1952, one day out of boot camp while serving four years in the U.S. Navy, from 1952 to 1956, as a radioman in the Korean Conflict. In 1958 Dick went to Northrup Institute of Technology, where he received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering. In 1979 he invented and patented a product for the electrical field and built a company around this patent, called E.Z. Mark Inc. After six years he sold the rights to Critchley Inc. out of England, which is now a multi-million-dollar corporation. We are very proud of him.

Music was a great love for him because he was born with a beautiful tenor voice, which he shared with others. He loved golf, playing pool and traveling with family and friends. He touched many lives with his goodness and sense of humor, and telling great jokes was one of his specialties. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Shirleen Bodell Johnstun, Murray; sons, John Johnstun, Murray; Mike and Gerondalea Johnstun, Waterford, Calif.; grandson, Trevor Johnstun; sisters, Betty Caropino, Alhambra, Calif.; Ruth and George Saunders, Sandy; brothers, Jim and Alice Johnstun, Riverton; Owen and Carol Johnstun, West Valley City; mother-in-law, Lydia Bodell, Midvale; numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Robert, and sister, Betty Aloha.

Funeral services Monday, March 4, 1996, at 2 p.m. in the Goff Mortuary Chapel, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to the services. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
