She was born June 24th, 1922 in Camden, Arkansas to Buchannan and Elsie Plenge Starnes.
Louise was humbly known as a strong, independent woman; having been widowed at age 39 and raising 3 children, out in the country, on her own with limited resources. She was a beautiful, vibrant, Christian lady that cared deeply for her animals, especially her dogs. She loved sewing and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Bead stringing was her passion in her later years.
At her side as she passed away were, her daughter, Donna Barnes; granddaughter, Alana Baker; grandson, Rodney Manning; niece, Brenda Burke; and great nephew, Steven Burke. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Mae Risner; and is lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Owen Leo Baker, Sr; son, Owen Leo Baker, Jr(5694107); daughter, Patsy Manning; two brothers; and one sister.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday August 4th, 2014 in the chapel of Gross Funeral Home with her nephew, Rev. Charles Starnes officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Quapaw Nursing and Rehab and to Arkansas Hospice for all of their love and care shown.
