ALBINO AUGSTININANO ORTEGA

Albino Ortega, a lifelong resident and retired miner of Midvale, Utah, joined his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 5, 1995.

He was born March 31, 1913, in La Madera, New Mexico, to the late Tomas and Perfetita Griego; he was adopted by the late Victor and Presiciliana Ortega.

Albino was a real live cowboy (Vaquero) as a young man. He had a great love for horses. He was a miner at the U.S. & Lark Mine, then went to work for Kennecott and retired from KCC. He enjoyed camping with his whole family every year, and was the head of the Moonlake Bear Club. He was a big baseball fan and enjoyed hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carmel Gallegos of Colorado and Carlota Lovato of New Mexico; and brothers, Carlos Ortega, Tomas Griego, Jr., Leandro Griego, and Bernardo Griego, all from New Mexico.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Guadalupe Trujillo Ortega; daughters, Prescilla and husband, Roger Valdez; Rose and husband, Mike Sorensen; Elva Ortega; Patricia and Fred Anderson, and Loretta and Frank Gonzales; sons, Balbino and wife, Helga; Rogelio (Roy); Lawrence and wife, Ida of Elko, Nevada; Richard and Kelly; Carlos and wife, Irene of Tracy, California; and Philip; as well as 34 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are sisters, Grace Jaramillo and husband, Encarnacion of Denver, Colorado; Silviana Sena, Trinidad Sanchez, Adelaida Griego, Rebecca Pena and Ofelia Jaramillo and husband Dennis, all of New Mexico; brothers, Herminio Griego of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and David Ortega and wife, Adonelia of Midvale; sisters- and brother-in-law, Grace Martinez and husband, Juan of Midvale; Delfinia Griego, Carlota Trujillo, Augustina Ortega and Alberto Trujillo and wife, Dora, all from New Mexico.

Funeral Mass Friday, December 8, 11 a.m., St. Therese Catholic Church, 75 East Lennox, Midvale. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 6-8 p.m., with a Rosary at 8 p.m.

Committal, Midvale City Cemetery.
