STAUNTON - Paula Marie (DeVore) Griffin, 65, of 4168 Spring Hill Rd., died Tuesday (July 29, 2014) in University of Virginia Medical Center.

Born December 9, 1948 in Staunton, she was the daughter of Chester Amos DeVore and Helen Belle (Sheets) DeVore Hyden. She was the bookkeeper for Griffin Brothers Construction Company until she became ill. She was a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and had perfect attendance in Sunday school for 42 years. She had also kept the nursery for many years and was very active with the youth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Tara and Helen Griffin; two brothers, James and William DeVore; and her step father, Charles Hyden. Surviving are her husband, Will Griffin; two sons, Daniel Griffin and wife Katie of Staunton and Wes Griffin and wife Ginger of Bridgewater; and five grandchildren, William, Nicholas, Molly, Hyden, and Samuel Griffin.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday in Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Rev. Charles McFarlin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Roudabush, Larry Knott, Jack Mohler, Beanie Harmon, Bill Baylor, Gibby Crummett, Bill Medley, and Rick Jefferson. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Straub, James Wenger, Norm Liskey, Neil Wong, Rick Homes, Charlie Burton, D. L. Sheets, Leroy Kiser, and Kenny Hanger.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Bear Funeral Home.
