Mark was born in Frederick, Maryland on September 15, 1960 to Charles Austin Staley and Ruby C. Boyce Staley. Mark graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, MD, Class of '78, and Shepherdstown University in Shepherdstown, WV. Mark worked for FEMA before taking early retirement for health reasons. His wife of 23 years, Salena Hannah Stevenson; his son, Charles Austin Staley, daughter Elizabeth Hannah Staley, and mother Ruby C. Eavey and stepfather Basil Eavey survive him. His father Charles Austin Staley preceded him in death.
The family invites all to attend a memorial service for Mark at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Aug. 16th to be held at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, 8617 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003. A reception will follow in the Church Social Hall. It was Mark's choice that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Development Office, 750 E. Pratt St., Ste. 1700, Baltimore, MD 21202. A private interment will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD on a later date.
