It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear cousin on August 1, 2005 at the Deer Lodge Centre, at the age of 73.

Eileen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all her cousins, Angie (Ron) Brown, Pat, David and Stewart; Georgie Chudo, Ron, Wally and Marilynn; Pat (Ben) Russin, Laurie and Heather; Wanda (Chris) Kardal, Vivian (Lucky) Zolondek; neighbours, Joyce and Wally Scribny. Eileen will be especially missed by those closest to her, cousin Agnes (Ron) Brazier, Linda, Leslie and Louise, cousin Joyce (Jack) Hentig and family, lifelong friend at the beach, Mary Kanski and coworker friend Pam McIsaac and daughter Shannon.

Eileen was born January 8, 1932, raised and educated in Winnipeg Beach, the only child of Paul and Florence (Grzeszkowiak) Pertson. Eileen began her career at an early age working with her uncle John Russin Postmaster Winnipeg Beach, eventually moving on to the Main Post Office in Winnipeg and retired in 1994 as Personnel Department Supervisor, after numerous years of service.

Eileen cherished the memories of her mother and her mother's sisters and their families at gatherings at aunt Gertie's home, aunt Wanda's and aunt Dibs' cottages, playing cards into the wee hours and the other family and holiday festive occasions. In later years she also enjoyed the leisure she had worked so hard for.

Eileen loved Winnipeg Beach and spent many happy summers at the family home she maintained as a cottage. There, everyone was welcome even if you had a dirty face, hands and muddy shoes. Like her mother before her, there was always a candy dish and a cookie jar that needed emptying.

Eileen was always interested in and loved to hear about the exploits and happenings of her cousins and grand-cousins . Eileen enjoyed having them around her at Christmas and their birthdays and especially enjoyed and looked forward to her weekly outing with Pam and friends to take in a movie, dinner and exercise the VLTs.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate Eileen's life will be held on Friday, August 5, Our Lady of the Lake Church, Winnipeg Beach at 1:00 p.m. Fr. Ernest Kamath officiating. Interment to follow at the Holy Rosary Cemetery.

The family extend their thanks and express their appreciation to the Health Sciences Centre and Deer Lodge Centre, doctors, nurses, hospital staff, funeral director, friends and relatives for their care and support.

In Eileen's memory, in lieu of flowers, if so desired, friends may wish to donate to a charity of their choice.

Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk and Gimli in care of arrangements.
