Lawrence (Larry) Harold Gerhard, Sr., 86, passed away October 9, 2010, in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Fredericksburg, TX, to Ernst Gerhard and Alma Weiershausen Gerhard. Larry served his country with the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII and served with the San Antonio Police Department for several years. The majority of his career was as a tradesman in the flooring industry. After retirement, he and his wife Edna moved to Blanco in 1982. They lived off Rocky Road until 1998 when they moved into Blanco. Larry was an accomplished handyman and offered his skills and services to many area churches and other community projects, including the Gem of The Hills Senior Citizens Community Center in Blanco..


He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 62 years, Edna Leona Menking Gerhard; son, Larry Gerhard; and two sisters. Larry is survived by his daughter, Lorraine Mueller and husband Billy of Universal City, TX; son, Myron Gerhard and wife B.J. of Littleton, CO; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and his dear friend and dog Charlie..


Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Crofts Funeral Home, Blanco. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Bracken Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bracken United Methodist Church for Bracken Community Cemetery, 20377 FM 2252, San Antonio, TX 78266
