Our loving brother, uncle, and friend, Harold D. Canning, passed away September 18, 1996 at the age of 85.

He was born in Midvale, Utah, August 6, 1911 to Charles A. and Anna C. Magnusson Canning.

Harold attended Jordan High School and was one of the first Eagle Scouts in the Salt Lake Council in 1926. He also attended L.D.S. Business College, Mesa College, and the University of California. Following high school he worked for USSR & MCO in Midvale, Utah. He served his country in World War II in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands Campaign. After the war, he was engaged in the retailing business with his brothers in Southern California. He was employed by AS & RCO and their contractors in Grand Junction, Colorado, procuring all the uranium ores and milled concentrates for the United States during the Nuclear Era. He retired as the Director of Administration for Bendix Field Engineering Corporation's (Allied Signal) Grand Junction operations.

Harold traveled throughout the world bringing back pictures and gifts from Europe, Africa, China, and Israel. These he shared with his numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and looked forward to his visits. He was known throughout his life as a well-dressed gentleman; one who generously shared his means with his family.

Harold is survived by his brother, Glen R. Canning (Veda), Pico Rivera, Calif.; sister, Carol C. Alley (Russell), Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Lois Canning (Milan), Downey, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Russell I. Alley II and his wife Judy for their loving service to Harold; also the staff of Life Care in Bountiful, Utah.
