Andrew Taylor "Andy" Atkinson died at 7:57 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1990, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 83, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Baker. He was a retired Exxon Co. USA employee with 30 years service.

Survived by six daughters, Alice Kent, Helen Dawson and Margerite "Blondie" Brown, all of Baker, Evelyn Ficklin and Sarah Hill, both of Prairieville, and Mildred "Milli" Spruill, Virginia Beach, Va.; five sons, Wiley C. "Bo" Atkinson, Pride, Walter "Black Joe" Atkinson, Baker, Thomas O. Atkinson, Holden, Harry Atkinson, Baker, and Larry Atkinson, Prairieville; three sisters, Mamie Denise, Doris Kelley and Idell "Delli" Norwood, all of Prairieville; three brothers, Perkins Atkinson, Waston Thomas Atkinson, Baton Rouge, and Eddie Atkinson, Denham Springs; 31 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by wife, Mazie Bauer Atkinson; a son, Alvin Eugene Atkinson; and a daughter, Nettie Brashear.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Baker. He was a 32nd degree Mason, chaplain and past Master of Baker Lodge No. 441, F&AM, and a member of Plains Chapter No. 34, Council No.37,Zachary, Istrouma Commandry No. 28, Baton Rouge Consistory, chaplain of Livingston Certificate Association and past patron of Star of Baker Chapter No. 234 of Order of Eastern Star.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Masonic Children's Hospital.
