Ross Dee Fann, Jr., age 75, of Springfield passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Dr. Jerry Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with the Springfield Baptist Church Ushers serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 3-8pm and again Saturday morning until the time of service.
Mr. Fann was born January 7, 1936 to the late Ross D. and Marie H. Fann, Sr. He was a graduate of Springfield High School in 1954, attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He graduated the University of Tennessee at Memphis College of Pharmacy in 1958, was a member of Kappa Psi Pharmacy Fraternity and was the Senior Class Vice President that year. Mr. Fann was a veteran of the US Army and life-long member of the Springfield Baptist Church. He worked as a Sales Representative for Eli Lilly & Company in Chattanooga, was the Owner/Operator of Fann's Shannon Drug Company and Fann's Medicine Center, both in Springfield, was the Pharmacy Director for Davidson County Metro Health Department until retiring in 2001. Mr. Fann was a past President of the Springfield Optimist Club and of the Robertson County University of Tennessee Alumni Association. He was also a past member of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and was a registered Pharmacist for over 50 years.
In addition to his parents Mr. Fann is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Elder Fann.
