STREATOR — Andrew Salata, 81, a retired railroad worker, collapsed and died at about 10:30 a.m. today, while in the back yard of his home at 1008 Painter street.

He was pronounced dead by a physician summoned by relatives who found him. Death was believed to have been caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.

His body was removed to the Hudachko funeral home, where arrangements for services are being completed.

He is being survived by his wife and four daughters.

STREATOR — Services for Andrew Salata, retired railroad worker, who died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home, 1008 Painter St., will be at 8:30 Thursday morning from the Hudachko Chapel, and at 9:00 at St. Stephen's church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home, where the rosary will be said at 8:00 this evening.

Mr. Salata is survived by his wife, the former Mary Majerchin, to whom he was married June 20, 1904, in St. Stephen's church, and four daughters, Mrs. George (Anna) Pope and Mrs. Andrew (Katherine) Harcharik of Streator; Mrs. Elmer (Josephine) Hanson of Peru, and Mary, at home. There are Three grandchildren.

Also surviving is a brother, George Salata of Streator, and four sisters, Mrs. Susan Kotansky, Mrs. Andrew (Anna) Katchmar and Mrs. John (Ella) Soltis of Streator, and Mrs. Michael Katchmar in Europe.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Salata, he was born Dec. 23, 1878, in Slovakia. He first resided at Hazelton, Pa., before coming to Streator 60 years ago.

He was a section foreman on the Alton railroad until his retirement and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. He also was a member of St. Stephen's Lodge.

STREATOR — Services for Andrew Salata, retired railroad worker who died Tuesday at his home, 1800 [1008] Painter [St., were held at 8:30 Thursday] morning from the Hudachko Chapel, and at 9:00 at St. Stephen's church, where Rev. Peter Bolerasky celebrated the solemn re- St., were held at 8:30 Thursday quiem high mass. Rev George Hiland was deacon and Rev. Vladimir Sors, sub-deacon.

Graveside rites were conducted by Rev. Hiland in St. Stephen's cemetery, where burial took place.

Pallbearers were Thomas, Andrew and Frank Salata, Ronald Harcharik, Vincent Reihl and Raymond Soltis.

Among those from a distance attending were many from Chicago, Peoria, Chillicothe, Mendota, La Salle, Peru, Dwight and Tonica.
