James Corbin Floyd was born April 20, 1900 in Hennis Crossroads, Hampton County, South Carolina to Holmes David Floyd and Matilda James Dean Floyd. Corbin's first wife was Rose Getz Floyd Miller, and they had William Bert Floyd, Eleanor R. Floyd Thorpe, and Edith J. Floyd. Later he married Edna McClelland Floyd, and they moved to Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, living two doors down from her sister Grace McClelland Clark. Edna and Corbin had no children. Corbin died on November 17, 1967 at age 67 and is buried next to his wife Edna in Savannah's Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery.
