Amasa Short was born July, 7, 1772 in Killingly Township, Windham County, CT. He is believed to be the son of John Short and Sarah Curtis. Amasa Short emigrated to Hartwick, Otsego County, NY in 1794. He married Elizabeth Cross in 1799. She was born February 29, 1780 in Greenbush, Albany County, NY. She died August 15, 1851 in Hartwick. He died December 9, 1844 in Hartwick at the age of 72. Both are buried in the Hartwick Cemetery..
