Claude (Max) Kennedy, age 93, Galena, Kan., died at 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, Mo., following a sudden illness.

Max was born May 22, 1912, at Galena. His parents were Claude and Hazel (Phillips) Kennedy. He had lived in Galena most of his life.

He was married to Catherine (Petty), of Galena. She preceded him in death in 1991. They had two sons, Gary and Philip.

He was a foundry pattern maker, carpenter and general contractor. In the late 1960s, he studied electronics and became a TV/radio technician. Kennedy TV Repair served the Galena area until he retired in 1977.

He was scoutmaster for the local Boy Scout Troop for many years during the 1950s.

Max and his wife, Catherine were long time active members of St. Marys Episcopal Church, of Galena.

Surviving are sons, Gary and wife, Carol, of Galena and Philip and wife, Myonza, of Shell Knob, Mo.; a brother, Jack, of Pittsburg, Kan.; seven grandchildren include David Kennedy and wife, Lori, of Aztec, N.M., Cheryl White, of Durango, Colo., Russell Kennedy, Boston, Mass., Nancy Wray and husband, Thomas, Theodosia, Mo., Joyce Bush and husband, John, Camdenton, Mo., Mark Kennedy and wife, Kerri, Ridgedale, Mo., and Melissa Frye, Wyandotte, Okla.; 11 great-grandchildren, Lauren Stehle and husband, Tate, Kelly Carter, Tommy Carter, J.D. Wray, Evie Wray, Zach Tournear, Erika Tournear, Kristen Kennedy, Veronica Kennedy, Megan Frye and Mason Frye. Also surviving is one great-great-granddaughter, Catherine Elizabeth Rose Kennedy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 until 2:45 p.m. Saturday at the St. Marys parish hall.

The memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. in the church, followed by a private burial.

The family requests that gifts be made in the name of Max Kennedy to St. Marys Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.
