John Herbert Cuthbertson Naples, FL

John (Jack) Herbert Cuthbertson, 93, of Naples, FL, passed away on May 25, 2014. He was born and raised in New Haven, CT, the son of the late Frederick John Cut hbertson and Elise Adelaide Duclos. He graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, MA and attended Amherst College in Amherst, MA. He was a captain in the United States Army Air Force and served in World War II to defend the country he loved so much.

After the war, he and his wife, Marjorie Hoggan Cuthbertson moved to New York where he became president of Plummer, Ltd., a family-owned retail purveyor of fine china, crystal and silver giftware in New York City. Later, he joined Xerox Corporation as a senior sales executive in Waltham, MA and later acquired Pine Acres Realty in Chatham, MA, which he owned for 20 years.

A gifted athlete, he led an active life and was president of the New York Sales Managers Club, member of the Board of Governors of Bonnie Briar Country Club in Larchmont, NY, President of the Cape Cod Board of Realtors, Vice President of the Massachusetts Board of Realtors and named Realtor of the Year. He and Marjorie moved to Naples in 1985, where he continued his real estate career for many years.

Mr. Cuthbertson was the brother of Dorothy Morris, Cecile Kelly, Frederick Cuthbertson, Elise Roosevelt Williams, Helen Keyes, Raymond Cuthbertson, Robert Cuthbertson, and Clive Cuthbertson.

He is survived by his son, Frederick John Cuthbertson and his wife, Carol Roman Cuthbertson of Bonita Springs, FL; and their daughters, Heidi Lee Cuthbertson of Riverside, CA and Gretchen Mae Cuthbertson of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by his daughter, Leslie Dean Cuthbertson Owren and her husband, Robert Parker Owren of Marshfield, MA, their daughter, Blair Parker Owren of Brookline, MA; and son, Toby John Owren and his wife, Megan Rae Owren, and their son, Luke MacKay Owren of Kingston, MA.

He died after a shortterm illness.

Visitation from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3rd, at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Avenue North, Naples, FL 34108. Burial will follow the funeral.
