MIDVALE--Erma Johnson Lewis, 90, devoted mother, aunt and friend, passed away April 7, 1997.

Born June 29, 1906 in Provo, Utah to Olaf S. and Inez Glenn Johnson. She married Leendert Versluis (Leo Lewis) in Evanston, Wyoming on September 15, 1930. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Leo preceded her in death on November 2, 1972. Erma was a longtime resident of Midvale where she was a member of the LDS Church, serving as Relief Society president, Relief Society Spiritual Living teacher, and Primary secretary. While living in Fallon, Nevada, Erma served in the MIA presidency, as Genealogy teacher and Mutual attendance secretary.

She attended school in Midvale but following the death of her mother, she had to quit in the 8th grade to take care of her baby brother. She was Captain and Secretary of Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Erma was generous with her time and means. She crocheted and made afghans and shared her handiwork with family and friends.

Survivors: Daughter, Peggy; brother, Glenn A. Johnson; also nieces and nephews.

Graveside services Saturday, April 12, 1997 at 1 p.m. in the Midvale City Cemetery, 450 West 7500 So. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 S. State, Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
