Barry Lawton Abrahams was born on March 25, 1949 at Bethel Deconess Hospital in Newton, Kansas to Edward Allen & Adaline Ruth Funk Abrahams. They preceded him in death. Barry spent most of his adult life in Newton. For a time he moved to St. Louis, MO, where he worked as a landscape designer. Upon returning to Newton he worked at Tree Top Nursery. He also worked for many years at Ross/Cargill Industries. Later he went to work at Boeing. He retired from Spirit Aerosystems in February 2013. One of Barry's passions was drag racing, he assisted pit crews for several Top Fuel teams. After retiring Barry's medical condition escalated. He was in & out of the hospital, and true to his personality he made many new friends while there. After he was gone to be with the Lord many of the hospital employees came by to pay their respects. Barry is survived by brother Allen & wife Taeil Abrahams, sister Treva & husband John Brunner, as well as many nieces and nephews and their children. Visitation will be Thursday July 31, 2014 from 6-8:30 P.M. with family present to greet friends. Funeral Services will be Friday August 1, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Petersen Funeral Home. A reception will follow immediately after funeral service at The Bread Basket, the family would like to invite everyone to join them.
