Andrew and Margaret reconciled and were remarried on October 27, 1926, in Cincinnati. Mrs. Hampton passed away from effects of septic peritonitis and bilateral pneumonia, following gunshot wounds. After her demise, an inquest was held and the jury's verdict stated that her death was the result of a homicide. Mrs. Hampton's remains were sent to her native Winchester for services and interment.
