Born on March 27, 1929, Susan Carter lived most of her life in and around Seattle. Growing up with three siblings, Sue carved her own identity through participation in extracurricular clubs in High School and in College. In 1945, Sue began learning how to fly airplanes. In 1946 at age 17, she spent 25 days flying solo, from Seattle's Boeing Field to Ft Lauderdale Florida and back!

On September 17, 1948, she married the love of her life, Kenny May. Together, they raised three sons, Thomas Gordon, Scott Carter and Rodger Douglas, until 1974, when Kenny was killed in a car accident. Sue returned to school shortly after, and received a degree in Interpreting for the deaf. She was employed by several school districts before retiring in 1998. Sue had many wonderful and loving friends all over the country. She kept in touch with friends from her youth in Seattle, as well as Alliance Ohio, Bellingham and finally in Burlington Washington.

She is survived by her three sons and, according to Susan, "The three of the best daughters-in-law on earth" (Michelle May, Carol May and Lisa May). She is also survived by her sister Mary Fought of San Francisco, Joel Carter of Fernandina Beach Florida, sister-in-law Becky Carter of Fernandina Beach, Joyce Ray of Bellevue, sister-in-law Colleen Carter of Deming as well as grandchildren, Steven May, James Hamilton, Mariah May, Makenzie May, Mario Coluccio, Mikayla May and Genni May, whom she is planning to see in heaven.

Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 2:30pm at: Skagit Valley Senior Village, 400 Gilkey Road, Burlington, WA 98233, (360) 755-5550.
