Brenda H. Bowen, 64, of Cumberland died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at University of Madison. She was born November 14, 1949 in Cumberland, WI to John and Mildred (Motycka) Tempesta. Brenda was raised in Cumberland and graduated from Cumberland High School in 1968. She was married to Larry Boortz in 1968 and they had 6 children. They later divorced and Brenda married Steven Bowen in Cumberland, WI on December 26, 1997.
Brenda worked various jobs including Skiddies, Farm and Fleet and Dr. Hager's Dental Office. She loved gardening, making people laugh and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Steven of Cumberland; 3 sons, Chris(Sheri) Boortz of Rice Lake, Jason Boortz (Heather Smith) of Spooner and Andrew Boortz (Kate Peterson) of Rice Lake; 3 daughters, Missy (Todd) Hay of Rice Lake, Angie (Gary) Fankhauser of Rice Lake and Sara Strand of Rice Lake; 1 stepson, B. J. (Tara) Bowen of Waukesha; 13 grandchildren; 1 brother, Jack (Deb) Tempesta of Cumberland and 1 sister, Elaine Tempesta of Cumberland.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, August 4, 2014 at Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland, Wi with Father Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Cumberland, WI. Pallbearers are Josh Tempesta, Kyle Tempesta, Todd Hay, Gary Fankhauser, Rick Strand and Derrick Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are Parker Fankhauser, Carson Strand, Gavyn Bowen, Camdyn Bowen, Quinn Bowen and Lyam Bowen. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Sunday and one hour prior to service on Monday at the Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland.
