Daniel Abbey, of 16 Steele avenue,
died at 5 o'clock yesterday morning,
following a long illness. He was
seventy-eight years of age and was
born in North Hudson, Essex county,
and came here about forty years ago.
He was a veteran of the Civil war,
having enlisted in 1861 in Co. A, 2
Vermont Infantry, and served two
years. He was also a member of Ansel
Denison post G. A. R.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Daniel Abbey; four children, Daniel N.
Abbey, Mrs. James Sawyer, Mrs. John
McCartney and Miss Ina Abbey; also
four grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at the late
home, 18 Steele avenue, Monday afternoon at 2:30.
The G. A. R will conduct
its ritual services. Rev. H. Clarke
Colebrook, pastor of the First Baptist
church, and Rev. John J. Dominic, D.
D.. will officiate. Interment will be
made in the family plot in Prospect
Hill cemetery.
