Eugene "Gene" August Eversberg, Jr., passed away on July 26, 2014, in Houston, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Hardin Family Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m., until service time at 11 o'clock. Rev. Jim McPhail will officiate the service. Interment will follow at 2 p.m., in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, Texas, with Rev. Kay Reed officiating.

Gene was born in Brenham, Texas to the late Eugene August Eversberg, Sr. and Edna Buck Eversberg. He attended Alamo Elementary School in Brenham. He moved to Houston in 1932 and attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Lanier Junior High School and Lamar Senior High School where he graduated first class to go through all 3 grades of 1940 class, 9, 10, 11th with 571 graduates! He also attended Texas A & M. Eugene was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II on B-17's and instructed in basic flying school in BT-13's. He graduated from University of Houston in 1948. A salesman by trade, Eugene was a manufacturers representative. He has been a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Arabia Shrine Temple Legion of Honor unit.

Gene is preceded in death by his sister, Connie Eversberg Ostner.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Wilkins Eversberg; son, Larry Eugene Eversberg and wife, Linda; daughter, Marla Kay Gonzales and husband, Danny; grandchildren: Jeff Eversberg and wife, Fiona, Sandi Eversberg Kyle and husband, David, Keith Eversberg, Nicole Eversberg, and Billie Gonzales; great-grandchildren: Benjamin Eversberg, Zachary Eversberg, Logan Kyle, Lyla Kyle, Abby Eversberg, Isaiah Gonzales-Vela and Amara Zaragoza; niece, Diane Ostner Hudson and husband, Billy; nephew, Chuck Ostner, Jr. and wife, Patty; other family members and a host of friends.
